Our Approach

We offer a full-cycle development service from concept to deployment, and every stage in between. Whether you’re starting from a blank page or optimising an existing system, our team brings deep industrial experience, technical know-how, and a problem-solving mindset to every project.

Every control, monitoring, or test system project is unique. Elevate Controls follows a consistent development process that adapts to the unique requirements of your project and delivers a quality outcome every time. We use industry-standard tool chains that ensure consistent and efficient application of resources across every stage.

Concept Validation

Elevate Controls’ structured validation process helps our clients assess the technical and commercial feasibility of any monitoring or control system proposal. We work closely with our clients to understand the system objectives and commercial constraints, assess the engineering feasibility, and identify potential risks before full-scale development begins. We cover all stages of the development process in our assessment, including requirements for ongoing support and maintenance once the system is deployed.

System Architecture

Establishing an appropriate system architecture is critical to a successful system development. Elevate Controls works with you to define a functional specification and system architecture that will meet all your engineering requirements within cost, risk, and time-to-market constraints. We use modelling and simulation tools to validate control system architectures where appropriate before committing to a specific integration or build strategy.

System architecture covers hardware selection, software applications and frameworks, UI requirements, communications protocols, network interfaces, and data acquisition and data management strategies. Integrated data management is an undervalued element of the system architecture. The ability to manage and compare data consistently across all stages of a system development can significantly de-risk the process and help to avoid unexpected re-work costs.

System Development

System development covers the build or assembly of hardware modules, the design, coding, and unit testing of software modules, and the integration of all elements into the final system up to the point of deployment. Elevate Controls has extensive experience with both custom Electronic Design & Build, and Systems Integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components.

We can mix both approaches to ensure optimal management of cost, risk, and time-to-market. For example, an early-stage Proof-Of-Concept or Prototype might be validated using a rapid-turnaround COTS approach, with the final large-scale deployment implemented as a cost-effective custom electronic design and build. It is critically important to test hardware and software at all stages of system development to ensure that it meets its specifications for functionality, reliability, and safety. Elevate Controls can design and supply a custom test platform to perform R&D, validation, certification, Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL), and FAT testing as required.

Deployment & Scaling

This stage covers the delivery and installation of the system(s) into the client’s operational environment and includes confirmation of compatibility with any existing infrastructure.

All Elevate Controls’ deployed systems are supplied with a detailed Site Acceptance Test (SAT) report and a handover package that includes full system documentation, software source code, and custom training to suit client requirements.

Maintenance & Evolution

We partner with our clients throughout the life of any monitoring and control system that we develop. We offer local support and expertise at every stage of the development process.

The Maintenance and Evolution stage covers:

• Scheduled or ad-hoc maintenance, to ensure that the system performs to specification throughout its projected commercial life.  For systems deployed to remote locations this may require the development of portable systems for field testing and diagnostics.

• Planned evolution of the system that adds or exposes new functionality to address projected market requirements.

Both these scenarios should be addressed and planned for in the System Architecture stage. However, even the best plans may not be able to account for all the technology and commercial changes that will occur over a 20+ year commercial lifetime. Our breadth of expertise and experience means that we can adapt your systems to accommodate any unforeseen changes in requirements as they arise.

As industry demands evolve, we support our clients by integrating new technologies, upgrading system capabilities and developing next-generation iterations. Our commitment to ongoing innovation delivers long-term value to our clients by ensuring that our measurement and automation systems remain robust, adaptable, and future-ready.

ECU Field Tester

This project demonstrates Elevate Controls’ commitment to designing robust, flexible test and measurement systems that evolve with our customers’ needs.

An End-Of-Line (EOL) Test System for an Engine Control Unit (ECU)

By combining NI’s industry-leading PXI/TestStand platform with custom circuitry and robust mechanical fixturing, Elevate Controls delivered a flexible and scalable automated ECU End-of-Line Test System tailored to the client’s needs.

Locomotive Train Line Interface

Elevate Controls’ met a demanding time-to-market schedule to deliver a ready-to-deploy final product suited to medium level production volumes. The interface design included self-test functionality that allowed production units to be validated by reference to a second interface.

Hil Test System For VCU

Elevate Controls supplied a 600+ IO point HIL Test System with full fault insertion capability to test a new custom VCU. This flexible and scalable system integrates NI Real-Time PXI hardware with a custom electronic load box and signal conditioning interface.

Alcoa Laboratory Instrument Integration

The ALIAN system’s innovative design and industry impact earned it Finalist status at NI Week 2000 in the “Best Applications Paper” category for Test and Quality.

TiRO Pilot-Scale Production Plant

The project was recognised as a Finalist at the PACE Zenith Awards 2013 in the Mining, Minerals, and Exploration category, highlighting its contribution to innovation in metal production.

Chute Modelling Circuit

The successful deployment of the BSM monitoring and control system eliminated the need for manual control of motor drives and moisture monitoring.

Portable Rail Hunting System

The portable rail hunting detection system provided the client with a highly reliable, autonomous, and data-driven approach to investigating rail hunting effects.
